UPS Installation and Startup Services

GreenlightUPS installs and starts up new and refurbished UPS systems for data centers, server rooms, healthcare sites, and industrial facilities, including UPS systems of any brand bought from other suppliers. A correct installation is the first step to a UPS that actually carries load during an outage.

Installations are done nationwide by GreenlightUPS's own technicians, and every job is quoted before work is scheduled.

What is included in a UPS installation?

A typical GreenlightUPS installation covers:

  • Site review. Confirm available space, floor loading, rack depth, clearances, ventilation, and the input power available at the location.
  • Electrical requirements. Confirm input voltage, phase, breaker size, and plug or hardwire type (for example NEMA L6-30P or hardwired).
  • Delivery and placement. Coordinate freight, move the unit into place, and rack-mount or position tower and cabinet systems.
  • Battery installation. Install and connect internal battery modules and any extended-run battery cabinets.
  • Connection. Connect output to loads, PDUs, or panels. Hardwired electrical hookup is done by your electrician, or GreenlightUPS can bring an electrician on-site.
  • Startup and configuration. Power up, verify firmware, set output voltage, alarms, and runtime thresholds, and configure network management cards for remote monitoring.
  • Load and transfer test. Verify the UPS carries the connected load and transfers to battery correctly.
  • Handover. Walk your team through alarms, bypass operation, and shutdown. A written service report is available on request, usually as a PDF.

Which UPS systems does GreenlightUPS install?

We install systems sold in our catalog, including rack-mount and tower units from our Server UPS category, modular systems such as APC Symmetra PX and Symmetra LX, and three-phase systems from our Enterprise UPS category.

We install all UPS brands, including systems purchased elsewhere. There is no size limit on installation, and we do a lot of three-phase installation and service.

Why does a documented startup matter?

A documented startup records baseline readings, settings, and test results that make future maintenance and troubleshooting faster. If your UPS manufacturer's warranty has startup requirements, check them before installation so the work can be planned to match.

How do I prepare for a UPS installation?

Have this information ready when you call:

  1. UPS make and model, or the load you need to protect
  2. Site address and the room where the UPS will go
  3. Input power available (voltage, phase, breaker, receptacle)
  4. Access details: loading dock, elevator, stairs, door widths
  5. Preferred installation window, including any after-hours requirement
